Glen Rose Somervell County has everything you need to make a splash this summer. Cool down in the refreshing waters of the Paluxy River at Big Rocks Park, The Blue Hole at Dinosaur Valley State Park, the Brazos River, or at Wheeler Branch Park. Don’t forget to reserve your innertubes, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards through T&A Outdoor Adventures, Brazos Outdoor Center, and Rhodes Canoe Rentals.
If you are looking for indoor fun, stop in and explore one of our area museums such as Barnard’s Mill and Art Museum, Somervell County History Museum, and Creation Evidence Museum. Each of these museums offer a cool way for guests to learn more and to see artifacts that highlight Glen Rose Somervell County History.
The Somervell County Expo is a climate controlled venue that hosts a variety of events year round. You can catch barrel racing and rodeo events throughout the summer. Make sure to visit the “event” section of our website to stay up to date with this and other upcoming events.
No summer would be complete without attending our annual Hometown 4th of July Parade and Celebration in the Historic Downtown Glen Rose Square. Local businesses decorate festive floats as parade watchers line the streets of Downtown Glen Rose and pass in front of our Historic Somervell County Courthouse. As the parade concludes, guests can enjoy playing some free family friendly games throughout the Square. Later that evening, head out to Wheeler Branch Park where the celebration continues with our annual 4th of July Firework Show.
There are so many ways for you to make a splash this summer as you stay, play, and explore Glen Rose Somervell County! Contact the Visitor’s Center at (254)897-3081 and let us help you plan your next trip.
